Sarah

I’m Sarah, and I am 8 years old. I am the only deaf child in my family. When my parents heard about the deaf school, they brought me, and I started school, but I later dropped out because of the distance I was covering to get to school. I’m glad I don’t have to cover distance now because I am living in the dorm built by Beyond the Bricks. God bless Beyond the Bricks.

Bartuah

My name is Bartuah, I am 39 years old. When I was still a baby, I woke up one morning at about 1am and was crying bitterly. My mother’s neighbor (a witch doctor) came and knocked at my mother’s door with food. She told my mother that I was hungry and should be served the food. My mother refused her offer at first but on and on she convinced my mother, and I was forcibly serviced probably at two to three months old. That night was my last night to cry, hear and talk. Since then, I have lived with this condition with no one understanding or communicating with me. Live became boring, my hope was almost lost but Beyond the Bricks along with Christian Foundation deaf community school has made a big difference. As I am learning sign language and God’s word, I would love to become a deaf evangelist and construction worker to build houses for even hearing people.

Angel

My name is Angel Zlanpea Gaye, the first of three girls. I was not born deaf but when I was a sitting child my mother bathed me and mistakenly soap water entered my throat and I swallowed it; this situation caused me to cough for certain days and I eventually became deaf. I didn’t experience fatherly love because my father died when I was a baby. Besides, my mother was not concerned about my education because she feels that I’m not important since I am deaf. I am 7 years old and a beginner at the Christian Foundation deaf community school.

Our Goal is to Do Good In the Following Areas:

Training and education

Infrastructure and equipment

Humanitarian relief and assistance

Imagine living in silence. Because you can’t hear, you don’t speak. You are unable to communicate at all. Then imagine you have lived your whole life in a place that has no resources or anyone to help—no one to teach you sign language or how to read or write. You’re cast aside, uneducated, and alone…then imagine, a school, a place to live. Imagine finding a loving, caring environment with knowledgeable teachers and caregivers. Imagine being able to learn to read and write and communicate with others. Imagine finding hope for a future and learning about the unfailing love of Christ.
